Mixtape: Away From It All

Away From It All Mixtape

Lately I’ve been daydreaming about spontaneously packing a bag and retreating to a warm, sunny beach for a long weekend. Between one of my client’s projects that is chock-full of summertime vibes and the bitter cold days we’ve had these past few weeks, I can’t help but dream about the warmth of the summer sun. Since we’ve still got a long way to go until summer (and the return of cycling!), I’ve been trying to think warm, beachy thoughts while listening to this cheerful playlist. Enjoy!

Black Coffee - A Delightfully Sludgy Playlist

Inspired by some very intense and bold-flavored coffee I recently bought along with the start of a new fun and exciting project (more details to come in the following months - I promise!), I decided to make a playlist of some great sludgy, raw tunes.

I have this habit of trying out just about every creative outlet I can come upon. I discovered my love for both art and design by happenstance, so I always try to open myself up to other experiences too. My most recent creative dabbling has emerged in the glitch art. The “album” art for this playlist is an example of my glitch art, but I digress. Let’s get to that music!

In other news, I went to Big Snow Show 8 this past weekend, and it was an absolutely incredible experience. Maybe this is me getting older, but I find myself taking fewer photos at shows these days. I guess I just realized that I rarely go back and watch those videos I take at shows, so aside from a few quick photos (okay, and a Snapchat or two) I kept my phone in my pocket. Evidently, doing this might even help me remember the event better - who knew? I did snag a really awesome Phoenix shirt that I took a photo of though! Check out that awesome typography!

Other than than, I’ve just been a busy bee trying to wrap up client projects and loved one’s presents! I’m definitely looking forward to some down time in the coming weeks!

Hang in there folks, the holiday hustle is about to sky rocket to over 9,000!

The Fog Rolls In: A Halloween Playlist

The Fog Rolls In Mixtape

Happy Halloween!

Some of you may not know this about me, but I absolutely love Halloween. Despite hating it from ages 3-5 after being scared to tears by a neighbor, it’s really become to been a holiday I enjoy. Heck, I even volunteered at a haunted house at one point. For whatever reason, I really get a kick out of scary movies, creepy music, and of course, all the candy!

I also realized it’s been a while since I posted my last mixtape, so I thought I’d share an eerie playlist with everyone in the spirit of Halloween! However, you won’t find The Monster Mash here. What you will find are some gloomy, melancholic, and down right strange tunes - perfect for setting an ominous mood for any Halloween party! Enjoy!

Who can’t use some new tunes on Friday?

(Especially on a Friday before a 3-day weekend for many US folks)

These past couple of weeks have been incredibly busy for me (and many others in higher education). As I’ve mentioned before, whenever I really need to hunker down and get to work, it’s important for me to have a solid soundtrack. After falling in love with NONONO’s song Pumpin Blood, I knew that a whistle-inspired playlist was a must.

Mixtape 02: Awkward Teenage Dance Party

Mixtape 02: Awkward Teenage Dance Party

Through some miracle, I managed to round up enough awesome tunes to put together another mixtape already! Though I had no intentions of posting another mixtape so soon, I’m pleased to share Mixtape 02: Awkward Teenage Dance Party. Normally I go through a few different names for my playlists, but this one was just too fitting to change.

As I mentioned before, I like very upbeat music when I have a lot to get done, and it has definitely been one of those weeks! This playlist was inspired by awkward teenage social gatherings with a very subtle 80s-90s undertone (yeah, I know, it’s pretty awesome). It’s packed full of dancey remixes and electronica with some flair. Let me know what you think!

Mixtape 01: Take the Lane

I’m very excited to bring you a new type of post this week - the Mixtape! I have more playlists on my Spotify account than I’m willing to admit, and I thought it might be nice to occasionally share them with all of you instead of selfishly hoarding them in “secret" mode. My taste in music is constantly changing and encompasses a wide variety of genres. One minute I’m listening to Radiohead and the next it’s Wu-Tang Clan or dancey electronica.

With that said, I’m excited to present the first mixtape titled “Take The Lane". It’s inspired by those glorious summer bike rides that leave you feeling as though you haven’t a care in the world (not to be confused with this hilarious disaster). The landscapes turn to blurs, and the only thing you’re aware of the stretch of road ahead of you and an increasing sense of freedom. This mix starts off soft and sweet, but trust me, it builds. By the end of it, you’ll be imagining yourself getting out of the saddle and flying down the streets with great speed and confidence. Click the link to tune in on Spotify!
